Thank You Lord.

Thank you Lord for bearing down.

Thank you Lord for sharing Your crown.

Thank you Lord for fixing Your eyes.

Thank you Lord for choosing me as Your prize.

Thank you Lord for being willing to kill,

the animals in Genesis You called good.

You took their life and skinned their hide,

To cover us in love because it was cold outside.

From fig leaves to cobwebs, works to neglect,

We each try and cover our shame and regret.

Yet from the moment we chose to go against You,

You worked out a plan to make us brand new.

So once again we pause and say

Thank You.

Christmas Cards – in April!

April 25 seems like a good time as any to take down last year’s Christmas cards. And an even better time to blog about them! (Come on – I know I’m not the only one who still has them hanging up somewhere in the house…)

If I can blog about Christmas on the fourth of July, why not on in April too? Ahhh, the glory of being master of my own little universe…

But I really do wonder why they would choose to walk using just their own strength, when there is a greater source of power right there for them to access?

Hmmmm, sounds like an analogy is coming… Continue reading

Writer’s block

I don’t know how long one has to write before they can consider themselves ‘a writer.’ But since I am experiencing writer’s block, I guess I’ll just go with it.

Thankfully a dead guy spoke to me about it during my reading this morning.

And I think I’m gonna put my pen down and listen… Continue reading

Don’t bark back.

As a parent, I’m always trying to teach my kids some lesson or another.  We’re supposed to, right?  It says so right there on page 36 in the Parenting Manual (page 2 in the Cliff Notes version).

But it seems the more I talk, the less they listen.

Jesus has many names in the Bible.  Rabbi is one that I often forget.  It means teacher.

So after my kids had yet another conflict (which resulted in an episode of R.A.W. in our living room),  I decided to let God be the teacher for once. Continue reading
