“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and a wall of water on their left.” ~ Exodus 14:21-22
Can you even imagine what that walk across the dry seabed would have been like? Total jaw-dropping miracle. An experience of God’s power and faithfulness to His promises on your behalf. After that, how could one ever possibly doubt God again?
But we all know the Israelites did doubt God again. Again, and again, and again.
I believe one of the main reasons for that is they forgot their miracle. They let their current circumstances define the outcome, instead of recalling their previous encounters with God’s unwavering faithfulness.
While I didn’t personally get to walk through the dry seabed, I can remember this miracle and apply it to my own heart in times of danger. What God does for one He will do for all. He may or may not literally part the sea for me, but deliverance is the same guaranteed outcome.
But better yet, why not recall our own miracle? What has God done in your life that has no other explanation than divine intervention? An outcome where you were delivered. An outcome where you received provision. An outcome where circumstances shouted, “Impossible!” and God shook His head, smiled, and made it possible.
A new calendar year has us looking to what lies ahead. But first I believe God wants us to look behind. Bringing His miracles to the forefront of our minds changes how we view what’s to come.
